Palladium Prints, 2024

By Anant Saraf, 2024

Inspired by Father John Misty’s “Total Entertainment Forever”, a song about images, consumption, and the future of both, this work was the result of printing imagery on an antique medium that would be unrecognizable to the inventors of the medium- a result of thinking through and beyond time, of a series of experiments and questions, including:

How would I describe myself and the present in terms of digital culture and imagery? How much of myself is the (digital) culture I consume? If this is an image of the present on a medium of the past, what would an image of the future on the medium of the present look like? How can I make this just disorienting enough before it becomes noise? What would Talbot and Daguerre think?
